My understanding is that part-time employees are covered by the UAE Labor Law exactly the same as full-time on a pro-rata basis. Is this correct?
I thought it so and had seen something mentioned in a rather dated 'National' newspaper article. I am now confused as the wording in your article on Annual Leave states (my emphasis):
Annual Leave is a basic right of every employee guaranteed by the UAE Labour Law. Full-time employees working in the UAE are entitled to leave and holidays as per laws in the country, which broadly include annual or recreation leave, sick leave and maternity leave.
This seems to distinguish between full- and part-time employment. Please clarify as my daughter is working 24 hours a week and being told she is not entitled to annual leave nor to any additional leave or compensation for working on Public Holidays.
Thanks in advance for your advice!
