I have a query about my employer opening a LinkedIn social media account in my name without my permission and instructing me to use a company provided studio photo for my profile picture and to post all company related marketing and news. Is my company legally entitled to do this without my permission and force me to maintain the account on the company's behalf? I am not in a sales or client facing role in the company - I find this a very invasive situation.
This is also causing issues with my original Linkedin account because people are trying to connect with me via the wrong account and I have to constantly redirect them to my private account or to the company account depending on whether it's a work related connection request or not. People who look for me on LinkedIn and find the company account will think I have no social media presence when in fact my original account has thousands of connection, my full work history, my posts, etc. since the day LinkedIn started.
